As a dedicated and community-driven small business owner committed to improving the island and District 2, I announce my candidacy for Galveston City Council District 2.
As a dedicated and community-driven small business owner committed to improving the island and District 2, I announce my candidacy for Galveston City Council District 2.
My campaign priorities are:
Safe and secure neighborhoods. I recognize the importance of safety and security in the district and the island. I will work tirelessly to enhance public safety and collaborate with law enforcement, fire, and all first responders to make sure they have the staff and tools to make our streets and homes safer for everyone. This would also include working with the city to improve sight lines and signage at intersections to reduce fatalities.
Responsible business growth. I understand the importance of a thriving local economy. I will advocate and promote empowering local entrepreneurs to start or expand their businesses. I will also champion our small and medium-sized enterprises as they are the backbone of our island economy. By collaborating with stakeholders and opening lines of communication with business owners, the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce, and island leaders, we will promote businesses that benefit District 2 residents, broaden our tax base, provide jobs, and attract the right kind of tourists to the island. Together, we can build a future where businesses flourish, job opportunities abound, and our community thrives.
Welcoming tourist environment. Galveston is a destination city for many, and tourism is a major contributor to our economic health. District 2 encompasses over four miles of beachfront homes and businesses and is a major North-South artery for people transiting from their hotels or short-term rentals to cruise ships. I will work closely with the Parks Board and Wharves Board to ensure support of their business plan to attract the type of tourism that will benefit our residents and businesses, not just in the summer months but year-round.
Accountability and transparency. I believe in open and honest governance. I am committed to ensuring accountability and transparency in all city affairs. By fostering clear communication and engaging the residents of District 2 in decision-making processes, we will build trust between the residents and our local government.
I would also like to see Galveston as a destination city for the next generation. I will ensure the culture of our city promotes fresh ideas and provides an environment for career development, professional growth, and advancement where fear and intimidation will not be tolerated.
Due to my passion for my community coupled with my commitment to these priorities, I am the ideal candidate to represent Galveston District 2. Together let's build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for District 2 and Galveston Island.
